    Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) created the Five-Star Quality Rating System to help consumers, their families, and caregivers compare nursing homes more easily and to help identify areas about which you may want to ask questions. The quality rating system gives each nursing home a rating of between 1 and 5 stars. Nursing homes with 4 or 5 stars are considered to have “above average” quality.

    U.S. News and World Reports annually recognizes nursing centers that have received the highest-rankings from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Nursing centers are rated on measures of care, nurse staffing and health inspections.

    Gold – Excellence in Quality Award, 2011

    Gold 2011 ACHA logoOur efforts received national recognition when this center was named the recipient of an American Health Care Association (AHCA)/National Center for Assisted Living (NCAL) Gold – Excellence in Quality Award.

    The AHCA/NCAL Quality Award is modeled after criteria from the Baldrige Performance Excellence Program, the nation’s premier recognition for quality achievement.

    Gold recipients demonstrate effective systematic approaches that are well deployed, evidence of systematic evaluation and improvement process along with organizational learning, including innovation and approaches aligned with the center’s mission and vision.

    My InnerView recognizes nursing homes for outstanding customer and employee satisfaction. The annual Excellence in Action award highlights facilities that scored “excellent” when asked about recommending a facility for care (residents and families) or as a place to work (employees). This honor recognizes nursing homes that achieve the highest levels of satisfaction excellence, as demonstrated by overall customer (C) or workforce satisfaction (W) scores that fall within the top 10 percent of My InnerView’s database - the largest skilled nursing facility database of its kind in the U.S.

    L. Jean Schoonover for Excellence in Caring – Gold Award, 2009 and 2010

    Mountain Valley Care and Rehabilitation Center was honored with the L. Jean Schoonover for Excellence in Caring – Gold award, presented by the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare.

    Winners must meet the standards for quality care set by the Health and Welfare Department and must have had a minimum of three full surveys conducted. They must be a Medicare or Medicaid provider and they cannot have had a Substandard Quality of Care (SQC) survey during the last three full surveys.

    Most AdmiredKindred Healthcare, our center’s parent company, has been a Fortune magazine Most Admired Healthcare Company for the last three years.  The Most Admired list is the definitive report card on corporate reputations.  Fortune magazine ranks companies within industries, based on nine different “attributes of reputation.”  To create the industry rankings, surveys were sent to over 4,000 executives, directors, and analysts to select the 10 companies they admired most.
